Boldly I raced down the stairs, unstoppable. No authority held me back, no rules to keep me in line. School was now over; I could now run free. Finally, good riddance.
At last I reached my locker. I took what I considered relevant. I spoke to my friends for the last time that day, and left the dreadful building. Finally, good riddance.
Looking out onto the endless crowd, I was amazed by such size and shape. The sea of people continued to flow. And I was forced to scurry among them. Blended in as one of them, I slowly made my way to the elementary building. Finally, good riddance.
Brian sat in the corner; surrounded by many. I had just made my way through a tangle of people, only to step right into another one. So I called to him from afar. His face lit up, and his smile grew big. He reached out, held my hand, as we made our way out the door. Finally, good riddance.
Out, under the safety of a large tree: Brian and I waited for dad. The high school campus was flooded with students. All of which were happy school was over. Overwhelmed by such huge mass: we felt small, insignificant. This only made us more eager to leave. Finally, good riddance.
And as if on cue, Dad finally came to take us home. After all I'd been through. After all the teachers, classwork, and boredom I had to endure. This was it, this was the end. It had all come down to this, one final moment. School was now over, finally, good riddance.
